Corsicana Summer Freedom School
Corsicana Summer Freedom School began seven years ago when a need in the community for positive pro-social attitudes and behaviors in youth and their families was recognized by VOICE. Corsicana Summer Freedom School addresses these issues as well as promoting academic excellence.

A partnership with VOICE and Corsicana Independent School District is vital to establish the success and high standards of Summer Freedom School. Summer Freedom School is provided for five weeks during the summer to approximately 75 participants in Kindergarten thru 8th grade. College Students are hired each summer as Servant Leaders. The next Corsicana Summer Freedom School is set to begin tentatively for June 21, 2010. Freedom School fills up quickly and parents are encouraged to enroll early. College Students interested in Servant Leader Positions should contact VOICE no later than the Spring of 2010.

La Voz para la Familia
This program is an after-school program offered at Corsicana ISD, Fairfield ISD, Rice ISD, and Kerens First United Methodist Church for Hispanic parents and their children. The purpose of the program is give Spanish speaking parents the skills and support needed to advocate for the educational needs of their children. A computer lab is available to the parents to help them access information and prepare for the GED test.

Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL)
This program is designed to promote healthy living as a lifestyle. Families who are participating in Corsicana Summer Freedom School and La Voz para la Familia will be invited to attend HEAL. These families are given the opportunity to participate in a year long program to promote healthy lifestyles through nutrition and exercise. Parents are encouraged to attend the information sessions and will be given an assignment to complete with their family.
Each month the families will meet to learn about various nutrition and fitness topics. There will be a total of 12 meetings.

	The added bonus of the 12 meeting series is the opportunity to win a Nintendo Wii Fit along with a one year family membership to the Corsicana YMCA. Each time a family attends they will be entered in the drawing as well as each time their HEAL homework is completed.

December:	“Happy Holiday Healthy Foods”
