Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Presentations
VOICE makes presentations to youth under the age of 18 regarding the dangers of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Other Drugs. Age appropriate presentations are made to share with youth the dangers of ATOD Use. Presentations are particularly useful during prom, graduation, or spring breaks in high schools. A visit from our "Ciggy Buttz" Character during Tobacco Presentations so is very interesting to younger students.
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Although the start/end dates can vary slightly depending on the organization, Red Ribbon Week generally takes place the last full week in October. VOICE celebrates Red Ribbon Week with students throughout the month of October. This year Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated October 17-25, 2009.
Tar Wars is a tobacco-free education program for 4th and 5th grade students. The program is designed to teach students about the short-term, image-based consequences of tobacco use, the cost associated with using tobacco products, and the advertising techniques used by the tobacco industry to market their products to youth. A follow-up poster contest is conducted at the school, state, and national level.
Tobacco Free Kids Day is a day for youth to stand out, speak up, and seize control in the fight against tobacco. Awareness is raised about tobacco and how it harms the public's health and how Big Tobacco targets kids. Tobacco Free Kids Day is held in April.
