CAP Coordinator

Summary:
The CAP coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing college entrance services for high school students and families. This person works closely with the area high schools in identifying college bound students to help guide the student and their families through the college application, enrollment, and completion process. Duties include, but are not limited to providing one-on-one counseling with students and their families, conducting information sessions throughout the county, and documenting outcomes of program implementation.
 
 
Specific Duties:
  • Works a flexible 8 hour a day schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Maintains CAP website ensuring accurate and up to date information is posted at least weekly.
  • Uses other online social marketing venues such as Facebook, Ning, etc. to guide users to CAP website and all other program services.
  • Develops a uniform CARE Talk manual in print form that can be easily maintained and updated as needed.
  • Provides CARE Talk programs for parents of area high school students.
  • Provides one-on-one counseling at the VOICE office for students and their parents needing help with the college enrollment process and the college scholarship application process.
  • Provides oversight of the Kuder College and Career online program and instructs students and their parents on benefits and use of the program.
  • Assists students and their parents needing help in the VOICE computer lab with online searches and applications.
  • Stays up to date on college requirements and is knowledgeable in the dual credit offerings at area high schools.
  • Works with local colleges to ensure accurate information is given to participants and their parents on community college requirements, financial aid, and transferable hours to 4 year institutions.
  • Participates in committee meetings of various community agencies to promote the CAP program.
  • Works closely with area schools to plan programs that meet the needs of each campus.
  • Orders materials, equipment, and supplies as needed upon approval of the CEO.
  • Oversees facility and equipment maintenance during and after sessions.
  • Performs public relations duties in promoting CAP to area school personnel, students, and their families.
  • Recruits and trains volunteers for the program.
  • Submits a monthly report on participant enrollment and outcomes produced.
  • Attends meetings of the CARE board to give an update on services provided.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the CEO.
  • Fosters a spirit of cooperation among VOICE staff and board of directors, CARE board, volunteers and the community.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field.
  • Experience working with high school students and families.
  • Knowledgeable about college enrollment and scholarship application process.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse ethnic groups and high-risk populations.
